Women Walk the World - 29th April, 2012

On Sunday 29th April, 2012 join in this worldwide event, be part of the journey.
See below for details of Branches/Groups taking part in this event:

Women and Girls around the world daily spend many hours collecting vital daily needs of life, in particular, water. As a result they miss out on important education and other possible work opportunities.
It is not only time that is taken up in this activity, it is also a great deal of energy. The weight of water is great, 20 litres weighs 20kg, plus the container.
We link, on this day, with these women and girls.

Branches/Groups are encouraged to participate, if you wish to raise some funds for ACWW that would be most welcome, however not mandatory. Funds can also be in foreign currency, which we have the facility to convert to Aussie funds.

A badge to celebrate this day has been developed, the design concept of this badge was created by a junior member at the 2011 Junior Camp.

A Report: In recognition of women that spend hours walking everyday to gain the most basic of needs, the newly formed Birregurra CWA members, family and friends took to the streets!
Not even a chilly Sunday morning could dampen the enthusiasm to participate in a walk of the Birregurra Historical Trail. Luckily, the morning chill gave way to a delightful day. The sun shone brightly whilst we familiarised ourselves with Birregurra’s historical landmarks and enjoyed morning tea.
We are extremely grateful to CWA Member & owner of the Native Youth Hotel, Mrs Deidre Barter.  Deidre treated us to a fantastic tour of the Native Youth Hotel. Birregurra is truly lucky to have one of our earliest buildings saved by such a huge restorative undertaking.
A special mention must be made to Mrs Belinda Stewart who effectively co coordinated our first fundraising event.
I am positive those who participated would agree that the morning was lots of fun, with the added bonus of successfully raising money for a great cause.
